VOCABULARIO

Hola a tod@s!!

Os dejo otra pequeña lista de vocabulario, espero que lo encontréis útil:


1.-Segar el césped
Mowing the lawn / to mow the grass

  • You can´t mow the grass/lawn if it´s wet (No puedes segar el césped si está húmedo)
  • I love the smell of new-mow hay (Me encanta el olor de hierba recién cortada)


2.-Amanecer / Atardecer-Anochecer
dawn/sunsine/daybreak

  • We woke at dawn (Nos despertamos al amanecer)
  • We left as dawn was breaking (Nos fuimos cuando empezaba a amanecer)
  • We left at the break of dawn (Nos fuimos al principio del amanecer)

sunset/twilight/nightfall /dusk

  • As dusk fell, bats began to fly between the trees (Cuando comenzó a anochecer, los murciélagos empezaron a volar entre los árboles)


3.-Sin duda alguna
Hands down

  • The apple came out a hands-down favourite (La manzana ha resultado ser la favorita sin duda alguna)
  • I will win hands down (Ganaré definitivamente)


4.-Encontrarse mal
Feeling poorly

  • He says he´s feeling poorly and he´s going back to bed (Dice que se encuentra mal y se va a la cama)


5.-Alijo
Stash

  • I discovered a stash of money hidden behind the bed (Encontré un alijo de dinero escondido debajo de la cama)
  • She found a stash of chocolate at the back of a drawer (Ella encontró un alijo de chocolate detrás de un cajón)


6.-Cachivaches
Bits and bobs

  • Can you tidy away all your bits and bobs before you go to bed? (Puedes recoger todos tus cachivaches antes de irte a dormir?)


7.-Cierre de rosca
Screw top /crew closure /screw fitting

  • A screw top jar (Una botella con cierre de rosca)


8.-Dejar en ridiculo /Avergonzar
Put me to shame

  • It puts me to shame that I still haven´t replied to Bob´s letter (Me avergüenza no haber contestado aun la carta de Bob) 
  • Your cooking puts mine to shame (Tu forma de cocinar deja la mía en ridiculo)


9.-Echarme para atras
Put off

  • The prize put me off a little (El precio me echó para atrás un poco)


10.-Grande, considerable
Hefty

  • A hefty woman (Una mujer grande)
  • A hefty prize (Caro)
  • A hefty bag (Un bolso pesado)
